Emergency Broadcasts

The city will broadcast the following announcements from the city disaster prevention radio speakers.

1. Storm and Flood Information

  1. When caution is needed due to swollen rivers caused by heavy rain:
    "This is an announcement from Nakano City Office. The water level in XX River is rising. Please be careful."
  2. When evacuation is needed due to rising river waters:
    (Siren) "This is an announcement from Nakano City Office. XX River may overflow. Those along the riverbank should evacuate immediately."
  3. When evacuation is no longer necessary:
    (Chime) "This is an announcement from Nakano City Office. The water level in XX River has dropped. There is no longer a need to evacuate."

2. Earthquake Information

When an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5 or more strikes:
(Siren) "An earthquake has struck. Please stay calm and extinguish all sources of heat or fire."

3. Photochemical Smog Information

  1. When there is a smog alert:
    (Foghorn blasts twice) "This is an announcement from Nakano City Office. A smog alert is being officially announced. Please refrain from stepping outdoors, exercising outside and, if you are not in a hurry, driving." (Chimes ring once)
  2. When the smog alert has been lifted:
    (Chimes ring once) "This is an announcement from Nakano City Office. The smog alert has officially been lifted." (Chimes ring once)

4. Elections (On Election Day)

"This is an announcement from the Nakano City Election Administration Commission. Fellow residents of Nakano City, today is Election Day for XX. Have you voted already? Voting hours are until 8:00 p.m. If you have not yet voted, please do so."
